Explore 12 micro-learning modules designed to enhance student persistence in adult education by focusing on 11 key strategies. These strategies interact in complex ways to influence learner motivation. Participants will develop techniques to boost learners’ self-efficacy, inspire learner engagement through personalized interests, and address challenges such as systemic barriers and negative stereotypes. Each module is crafted for flexibility and ease, allowing educators to integrate these strategies into their practice efficiently. This set of micro-modules equips educators with practical tools to foster resilience, drive success, and create a more inclusive and motivating environment. 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • Identify and describe 11 comprehensive strategies to improve student persistence in adult education.
  • Apply the strategy of setting appropriate, achievable goals to enhance adult learners’ self-efficacy and persistence.
  • Effectively use constructive feedback to foster a growth mindset in adult learners, thereby increasing their self-efficacy and persistence.
  • Implement strategies for assisting learners in managing errors effectively to improve self-efficacy and overall persistence.
  • Utilize the strategy of reframing explanations to help adult learners persist in the face of challenges.
  • Employ the strategy of modeling literacy and learning strategies to build adult learners’ self-efficacy, thereby enhancing their ability to persist.
  • Use assessments appropriately to build upon self-efficacy and promote persistence.
  • Ignite intrinsic motivation by ensuring students find value in instruction.
  • Enhance learner persistence by providing learners with choices and autonomy, effectively appealing to their interests and increasing engagement.
